Public Policy and Strategies

Dr Krishna made several submissions to the Parliamentary Enquiries representing and collaborating with several communities and diaspora. He made a submission against amendments for citizenship rules to the Senate Committee in 2018, along with Federation of Ethnic Communities Council of Australia, Federation of Chinese Associations and Settlements Council and other organisations.

Dr Krishna initiated a public consultation workshop to prepare a parliamentary submission to the Australian Parliament’s establishment of a Legal and Constitutional Affairs References Committee to review the practice of dowry abuse in Australia. This must be considered as financial family violence rather than getting into complicated legal amendments.

Dr Krishna represents various communities and has made submissions to the Federal Government and National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) for the Accreditation of Community Languages Review.  His perseverance of pursuing this, he also worked to raise the significance of census awareness with CALD communities. His efforts are resulted in the recognition of the Bangla, Gujarat, Malayalam and Telugu languages for the purposes of translation and interpretation services by NAATI.
